The American Dental Association said it is willing to work with CMS to create a national provider directory that includes dentists, the ADA said in response to CMS' request for information.
CMS is looking to create a national healthcare provider directory that would make it easier for Americans to find physicians and other providers. CMS began soliciting public comments on the proposed database through Dec. 6.
ADA President George Shepley, DDS, and Executive Director Raymond Cohlmia, DDS, said in a Dec. 6 comment to CMS that the ADA believes in the timely and accurate updating of provider directories to reduce confusion for beneficiaries and help them access dental care.
The association's suggestions to CMS include focusing on interactions with current CMS data systems, effects on business practices, and a phased approach to implementation, according to a Dec. 20 article on the ADA website.
