George Shepley, DDS, plans to focus on collaboration between the American Dental Association and the industry once he begins as the ADA's next president Oct. 18.
Here are three things to expect from him during his tenure, based on an Aug. 5 interview between Dr. Shepley and ADA News:
1. Dr. Shepley wants the American Dental Association to collaborate with health organizations such as the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and the American Diabetes Association to combat the high consumption of sugar in the U.S.
2. The Baltimore-based dentist is passionate about diversifying the ADA's membership by adding more dentists from different practice settings and modalities, including DSOs.
3. Dr. Shepley is also interested in increasing membership from dentists who are women and from underrepresented groups through education and advocacy on diversity and inclusion.
