Dallas-based Prism Health North Texas, a healthcare nonprofit, is acquiring Community Dental Care of Texas to increase access to each other's services and provide care to those with HIV/AIDS, according to a May 17 News Tribune report.
Prism Health and Community Dental Care, also based in Dallas, receive funding from the federal Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program to provide HIV treatment and services.
The purpose of the acquisition is to increase patients' access to oral healthcare, the report said.
Community Dental Care of Texas has offices in Dallas and Farmers Branch. It is affiliated with the national Advantage Dental + network.
Community Dental Care of Texas will be known as Prism Health North Texas Dental Care. Its dental offices will continue to operate at their current locations and staff will remain the same. Prism Health's board of directors will become a single managing board for the clinics.
Because Prism Health and Community Dental Care are nonprofits, the acquisition did not include a cash transaction, but instead is a formal partnership agreement, according to the report.
