River Edge, N.J.-based Riverside Oral Surgery is mandating COVID-19 vaccinations for its employees, effective Oct. 1.
COO Jeffrey DeBellis and Director of Human Resources Megan Dwier announced the vaccination policy during an Aug. 17 company video call, according to an Aug. 26 press release.
The practice said the policy was written before the FDA's Aug. 23 approval of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine and took into consideration information from the CDC and New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy, along with recent vaccination policies at neighboring healthcare systems.
Riverside Oral Surgery was founded in 2007 and includes 11 locations with 15 oral surgeons throughout Northern New Jersey.
A spokesperson from Riverside Oral Surgery said in an email to Becker's that the policy affords medical and religious exemptions and has been well-received by staff. The practice also does not expect any difficulties with implementing the policy, the spokesperson said.
