All licensed California dentists can receive free personal protective equipment from the California Dental Association regardless of membership status, according to a May 28 news release.
The CDA collaborated with government officials to obtain protective gear from the state's pandemic relief stockpile. The items were inspected for safety and sorted into packages, each containing surgical masks, face shields, N95 masks, KN95 masks and gowns.
Staff assembled 25,000 kits, which will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last. Each dentist is eligible to receive only one kit per order.
The CDA's PPE kit distribution progam comes after the organization's May 7 call to action to the governor's office, in which it advocated for statewide PPE distribution and received more than 2,300 supportive responses from California dental professionals.
