A Kansas dentist helped a patient fix his own filling using email and video amid the COVID-19 pandemic, according to NBC affiliate KSNT.
Hannah Naeger, DDS, a dentist at Topeka, Kan.-based Shunga Family Dental Care, has been helping nonemergency dental patients via phone and email. She was even able to give a patient a temporary fix when his filling fell out.
"I don't have any of my teaching materials here at home, so I was using silly putty and a marker and drew things out," Dr. Naeger said. "He got his own personalized video. It was a really unique experience. I had never had to teach anyone how to do that before, or explain those intricacies before."
Dr. Naeger said the experience was rewarding, and the temporary filling should last until she can treat patients in person again.
