In 2022, there were 11 states that did not have any adult Medicaid dental benefits or were emergency care only, compared to nine states in 2024, according to data from the American Dental Association.
Delaware had the highest reimbursement percentage in 2022 and 2024, surpassing 76% in both years.
The organization created a weighted average index across 14 different procedures and compared the Medicaid fee-for-service reimbursement amount to the average dentist charges.
