Dentists per capita in all 50 states and DC

The District of Columbia has the highest number of general dentists per capita at 66.95 dentists for every 100,000 residents. Hawaii is the state with the highest per-capita count at 51.72.

California has the highest number of dentists in total, with 48.39 dentists per capita. 

Data on the number of general dentists in each state are from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, which updated employment data to reflect 2023 in April.
