Orthodontists and dentofacial orthopedists earned the highest annual average net income out of dental specialists in private practice in 2023, according to data from the American Dental Association's Health Policy Institute.
The specialty had an average net income of $333,250, ahead of pediatric dentists and periodontists.
Data was collected from the ADA's 2024 "Survey of Dental Practice," which surveyed 60,975 private practice dentists in the U.S.
