Median net income of general practice dentists hit $185K in 2023

The median net income for general practitioners in private practice was $185,360 in 2023, a high mark, according to data from the American Dental Association's Health Policy Institute.

Nonsolo dentists had a significantly higher median income than solo dentists in 2023, with nonsolo owners bringing in $230,070 and solo owners earning $172,040.

Income data was collected from the ADA's 2024 "Survey of Dental Practice," which surveyed 60,975 private practice dentists in the U.S. The results reflect 2023 operation statistics.
