Number of practicing orthodontists rose 17% in 20 years

There were 10,906 practicing orthodontists and dentofacial orthopedists in the U.S. in 2022, according to the American Dental Association’s Health Policy Institute.

Compared to 2001, the first year in the data set, the 2022 figure is an increase of 17.7 percent.
