3 dental professions included in top healthcare jobs list

Dentist, orthodontist and oral and maxillofacial surgeon were ranked in the top 10 of top jobs in healthcare by U.S. News & Report.

The rankings were created based on seven metrics: median salary, unemployment rate, 10-year growth volume and percentage, future job prospects, stress level and work-life balance. 

Here are how the three professions stacked up on the list of 29 healthcare jobs:

Dentist

Rank: No. 4

Median income: $160,270

Number of jobs: 7,700

Unemployment rate: 0.5 percent

Orthodontist

Rank: No. 7

Median income: $208,000

Number of jobs: 300

Unemployment rate: 0.5 percent

Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon

Rank: No. 9

Median income: $208,000

Number of jobs: 300

Unemployment rate: 0.3 percent
