Vyne released its State of the Dental Industry Report 2021, surveying 400 clients across the U.S., according to a Jan. 5 news release.
The survey was conducted in November and December 2020. Seventy-seven percent of respondents were from solo practices and 23 percent were from group practices.
Here are five points from the survey:
1. Practices faced significant challenges in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Seventy-two percent of respondents didn't use teledentistry and 62 percent said they wouldn't offer teledentistry services in 2021.
2. Nearly half of respondents (46 percent) said they aren't planning to hire more staff in 2021. Seventeen percent of respondents plan to invest in new technology in 2021.
3. The top three reasons for seeking new software were to reduce paperwork, modernize the office and lower costs of current technology.
4. Patient volume is the top challenge respondents anticipate for 2021r, followed by hiring and staffing, and industry updates.
5. Most practice leaders (85 percent) were either confident or very confident in their practice's future. Thirteen percent were somewhat confident or neutral.
