Vyne recently surveyed dental providers on insurance claims and supporting documentation.
The survey found the top three procedure codes that require the most supporting documentation are periodontal scaling and root planing, crown-porcelain/ceramic substrate and core build up.
Here are the top 10 insurance pain points dental providers face:
1. Processing delays
2. Following-up on unpaid and rejected claims; rejections cause slower turn around with payments
3. Verifying eligibility; verifying coverages prior to procedures and then being told the procedure is not covered after receiving verification it was
4. Coordination of benefits
5. Reimbursement levels
6. Rejections and requests for additional information
7. Long hold times; not getting a "live" person on the phone or automated systems
8. Downgrades
9. Medical billing for dental
10. Payers claiming they never got the documents that were sent
