Teledentistry companies such as MouthWatch and Candid work to provide virtual dental services to thousands of patients nationwide and drive technological advances in the industry.
Here are six teledentistry leaders:
1. Brant Herman. Founder and CEO of MouthWatch. Mr. Herman has led Mouthwatch since 2012. Before founding Mouthwatch, he served as a founding member of dietary supplement company Bullwater Health & Fitness and director of operations at Prestige International, a global teleservices firm.
2. Lynn Hurst, DDS. Co-founder and Clinical Adviser at Candid. Dr. Hurst co-founded Candid in 2017 with CEO Nick Greenfield and Head of Product Lilla Cosgrove. He previously served as the associate dean for advanced dental education at the University of Nevada Las Vegas and the founding dean of the College of Dental Medicine at Roseman University of Health Sciences in Henderson, Nev. In 2009, he founded Texas Orthodontists in San Antonio.
3. David Katzman. CEO of SmileDirectClub. Mr. Katzman has served as the company's CEO since 2014. He serves on the board of directors for electronics company Sharper Image and is a managing partner at Camelot Venture Group, a private investment company. He was previously a managing partner at entertainment imaging company Fathead and vice chair for the Cleveland Cavaliers basketball team.
4. Richard Lee. Founder and CEO of Virtual Dental Care. Mr. Lee has served as Virtual Dental Care's CEO since 2016. Before establishing the teledentistry software company, he was the founder and CEO of Planet DDS, the largest cloud-based dental practice management software company, and also founded the industry's first real-time electronic data interchange claims clearinghouse, DentalXChange.
5. Vilas Sastry, DMD. CEO of Teledentistry.com. Dr. Sastry has served as the CEO of Teledentistry.com since 2016. He has more than 20 years of experience in the dental industry, previously serving as the CEO of Las Vegas-based Aces Dental and a managing clinical director of Chicago-based DSO Aspen Dental.
6. Leah Sigler. President at the TeleDentists. Ms. Sigler became president at the TeleDentists in June 2021 after serving as the company's director of operations for two years. She is a registered dental hygienist with about 15 years in the dental field.
