A Teledentistry.com initiative will train residents at University of Nevada-Las Vegas School of Dental Medicine to use teledentistry services within hospital emergency rooms, the company announced Feb. 17.
The partnership also includes Liberty Dental Plan, the Nevada Department of Health and Human Service' Oral Health Program and UMC of Southern Nevada in Las Vegas.
The Teledentistry.com platform is designed to expand access to care and reduce emergency room overcrowding and opioid prescription dependency, according to the company.
Founded in 2001, UNLV School of Dental Medicine is Nevada's only accredited dental school, according to the news release. It has eight education programs and provides care for more than 70,000 patients annually.
