Seventy-five percent of dental providers predict an increased reliance on teledentistry in coming years, according to survey results released Nov. 19 by the DentaQuest Partnership.
In August, DentaQuest Partnership surveyed 2,767 dental providers in more than 20 states about their teledentistry usage.
Five key statistics from the survey:
- Seventy-five percent of dental providers who use teledentistry expect their virtual visit volume to stay the same or increase during the next 12 months.
- Sixty-two percent of dental providers who use teledentistry reported being somewhat or very satisfied with the technology they use to conduct virtual visits.
- Fifty-three percent of dental providers who reported an increase in patient volume since reopening their practices after pandemic closures said they were unlikely to use teledentistry, and 52 percent of dental providers who reported no change in patient volume said the same.
- Respondents with more than half of their patients enrolled in Medicaid were 39 percent more likely to use teledentistry.
- Eleven percent of dental providers who are not using teledentistry plan to in the near future.
