Sand Springs, Okla.-based Jacob Whitney, DDS, had an old Honda he no longer used. He wanted to give back to the community and, instead of selling it, chose to give it to a high school student without transportation.
The dental office contacted local high school counselors, who recommended Sonya Hummingbird Scott, a senior who had been using her mother’s car to get to work until it broke down.
When Ms. Scott arrived for her appointment, she was instead given the keys to her new car.
Dr. Whitney told the Sand Springs Leader that the car was reliable and he hoped it would last for years.
